If you are ill and unable to come to the Surgery, you may wish to request a house call. If possible, try and phone between 8.00a.m. and 10.00a.m. In general, house calls are intended only for very ill or housebound patients. Very few illnesses are made worse by a short car journey and surgery consultations allow GPs to see more patients. In addition, there are usually better facilities for examination and treatment.
If you are requesting a house call, you will be asked for some details about your problem so that the GP can attend each case according to the degree of urgency and plan the route round the countryside. If you are unsure whether you need a house call, please telephone and ask for advice.
